The 2019 Summer Essentials
With the start of every summer comes the excitement of soon to be tanned skin, beach waves, and warm air. I've compiled all my favorite products for all that entails.
Tatcha The Satin Skin Mist
I’ve never found a face mist to be effective past the equivalent of spritzing zesty water on my face; however, Tatcha’s Satin Skin Mist forced me to reconsider. This product can survive the heat, making it my go to essential on humid summer days. The Satin Mist has clay that absorbs impurities, such as oil, freeing up that nasty, sweaty T-zone. Say goodbye to melting makeup with a quick spritz mid-day, or right after hitting the gym.
Ultimate Ears WONDERBOOM Portable Bluetooth Speaker
This speaker gives a lot bang for your buck. Not only is it waterproof, but the sound quality is surprisingly vibrant, and capable of bass for the size. Wonoderboom is a must for blasting music, whether you’re at the pool, beach, park or in the shower.
With a pearl accent, these barrettes are a classy way to keep hair out of the face on sweaty days. I usually have a couple lying at the bottom of whatever bag I’m using, ready to save the day. (Not to mention they’re cute with any outfit) These barrettes can be found from multiple retailers online with a quick search.
Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo
As a blonde, the minute my hair starts to get oily, my roots look like they could fry an egg. I’ve tried too many dry shampoos to keep my blowout fresh, but I’ve come to love one in particular : “Drybar detox dry shampoo”. It’s the only dry shampoo I’ve found that fully absorbs grease to long term restore my hair’s volume without buildup. It does have a distinct fresh scent, but I don’t personally find it overbearing; I would recommend using the product sparingly, a little goes a long way.
Charolette Tillburry Pillow Talk Eyeshadow Palette
These rosy warm nudes embody summer, having just enough golden sparkle to be sultry for night, while being a pretty pink for the day. Pillow Talk is on the way to becoming a cult favorite: the quad is effortless to apply, making a it no brainer for rushed mornings while keeping a natural look. I find it most effective to apply the pop glitter color with my finger.
Erborian BB Cream Tinted Moisturizer
I try to keep makeup minimal in the summer, meaning I’m all for multitasking products. Erborian’s BB Cream is my go to face makeup, not only because it’s Rosie Huntington Whitley approved, but for its ability to provide seamless lightweight coverage. This product blurs my skin just enough to create a matte glow without the buildup of foundation. It lasts throughout the day, while keeping skin moisturized. Plus it has built in SPF.
RMS Living Luminizer
Get the perfect glow with Rosemary Smith’s highlighter. I adore this product because, unlike most highlighters, it isn’t sparkly, but instead has a dewy shimmer that gives the face a natural illumination. I use this highlighter when I’m heading for the beach, or a casual night out. In addition, it works great as light eyeshadow, and is small enough to easily fit in a purse.
Dolce&Gabbana Light Blue Eau de Toilette
A Mediterranean beach day in a bottle; with hints of citrus and floral fruits, this perfume’s scent is fresh and elegant. I especially love Light Blue’s crisp fragrance for summer since it has staying power without being overpowering.
Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen
No one wants pre mature aging from sun damage, or worse cancer. Though I’m not always the best at remembering to apply, Supergoop eases the process. This product doesn’t leave skin oily, or create a texture residue like most sunscreens. It blends translucently with makeup or by itself, earning the “unseen” to its name.
OPI Cozu-Melted in the Sun Nail Polish
I’m loyal to OPI for their consistently durable nail polish. While having every color under the sun, my favorite for this season is Cozu-Melted in the Sun. Embodying their usual high quality, I love this shade for its settle warm pinkness frosted with rose-gold shimmer, making it easily matchable and great for the beach.
